“I create art because of its transformative and empowering effects. My current work is a combination of vibrant colors, wry humor and engaging design infusing beauty and fun into every day life”.
Coming from a long line of Artisans exposed Cindy Beatteay to a variety of art forms resulting in her mixed media aesthetics. Her earliest inspirations were in her fathers wood boat shop which was filled with the excitement of creation. A lifelong artist, exploring mediums and experimentation have become an important component in her work. Cindy currently employs painting, collage, glass, textiles, woo, metals and resin in her art. She mines supplies from less obvious sources and allows the materials to guide her work. She fuses characteristics from the past with a bold contemporary style.
Cindy is a fourth generation Californian whose childhood full of art training and exposure to the construction industry paved the way for a business in the Design and Decorating field. In her twenties she traveled the world working as a International Flight Attendant and then left that to pursue a higher education. Cindy earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in both Art Studio and Art History in 1993 from the University of New Mexico. At the same institution, she studied Art Education and Porcelain Ceramics as a Masters student in 1998. Cindy also studied realism painting in the studios of the Maroger Painters of Albuquerque who taught her the oil painting techniques of the 17th c. Masters. She has shown and sold her work nationally and internationally and continues to do so today. In 2001 Cindy showed her work in the New Mexico Fine Art Museum along side notable Artists Georgia O'Keefe and Judy Chicago. She is currently a member and exhibitor at the Laguna Art A Fair in Laguna Beach, CA. Cindy lives and works as a full time Artist in Orange County, California.
